Scope and contact

Attunz provides this website, the Mac app and the Attunz hosted cloud service. This policy covers these services. Contact: hello@attunz.com.

Local and remote model processing

With downloaded local models selected for every enabled processing step, dictation can run offline. Selecting local ASR alone does not make AI enhancement or memory processing local. If you choose a remote model through your own API key (BYOK) or a supported third-party account, audio for ASR and text, relevant context or memory inputs for the selected features may be sent to that provider. Its terms and privacy practices also apply.

Context and memory

Context can include the app name, window text obtained through macOS Accessibility (AX), selected text, existing input-field text and available caret information. Attunz also supports using recent Claude/Codex history inputs. Context is obtained automatically and can be turned off; availability depends on the app and permissions. AX window text is not obtained through screenshots. Clipboard text is not collected by default for model context. Relevant context and memory may become model input when those features use a remote model. Coding-history access follows memory settings; turning memory off disables access to those histories.

Local records, preferences and logs

Audio, transcripts and memory records are stored locally on your Mac. The current default is to save audio and retain session history for 30 days; the retention setting can be changed, with 0 meaning no automatic expiry. Expired-history cleanup runs when the app starts. Preferences are stored locally, and API keys use macOS Keychain. Diagnostic logs are local, rotate at 10 MB per file and retain up to seven files. These are separate from session-history and memory retention.

Optional sync and backups

Optional multi-device sync is off by default. When enabled, it can use iCloud Drive or a folder you select, including one managed by a third-party sync tool. Settings, memory and API keys can be included in encrypted sync or backups; session history is excluded from that sync scope. Your selected storage service's practices also apply. Deleting a local record does not guarantee deletion of copies in backups or third-party services.

Website analytics and preference storage

The website uses PostHog for page views, page exits, interactions and session replay. Events are forwarded through the website to PostHog's US endpoints. Analytics is configured to use cookieless mode, but this does not mean no data is collected. Replay can capture page appearance and interactions; password fields are masked, while other input fields are not globally masked. The official AI-prompt module is excluded from autocapture and masked for replay. A language-preference cookie lasts one year, and a manually selected theme is kept in local storage; choosing automatic theme removes that theme preference. This replay concerns website activity, not recordings of your desktop or the Attunz app.

Feedback and support

If you submit app feedback, the message and optional contact details are sent through Attunz's website to the support email inbox and Discord. Optional diagnostics include app/build version, macOS version, chip, ASR engine, AI provider and interface language; the diagnostics option is on by default and can be turned off before sending. Direct email or Discord support also involves those services. Their storage and privacy practices apply.

Hosted service and requests

The Attunz hosted cloud service (Attunz Cloud) is available. The app sets up Attunz Cloud the first time it starts. It processes your speech or text only when you choose it as your dictation engine or AI enhancement model. The Attunz Cloud Privacy Policy describes the applicable processors, payment data and retention. This policy does not claim that third-party services erase all copies when you delete local data. For privacy questions or requests concerning data held by Attunz, contact support@attunz.com.
