Questions & answers

Plans & pricing

Does the free version include all Attunz features?

Yes. Memory, context awareness, automatic vocabulary, AI editing and custom prompts are all included. All Attunz software features are free forever with local models or BYOK. Attunz charges no fees for these options.

How does Attunz Cloud differ from the free version?

The software features are the same. Attunz's hosted service offers ASR and AI enhancement engines selected and tuned for Attunz: ASR turns speech into text; AI enhancement edits that text. Usage credits pay for hosted cloud processing only and are topped up manually, without automatic renewal at present. Local models and BYOK still give you all software features for free.

Does BYOK cost anything?

BYOK means using your own API key. Attunz charges no app fee for local models or BYOK; any third-party model charges are paid directly to that provider. A free app does not make a provider’s API free.

Should I use local or cloud models?

We recommend local models. Consider cloud services only if your device lacks memory or performance.

Is Attunz Cloud available, and what does it cost?

Attunz Cloud is available. It is pay as you go: about 4.6 credits per minute (1 credit = US$0.01). You buy credits in the Attunz app: $10, $50 (+500 bonus credits), $100 (+3,000 bonus credits) or any whole-dollar amount from $10. Bonus credits expire after 90 days. Each eligible Mac automatically gets 200 trial credits the first time the app starts.

Using the features

What does memory do, and how do I use it?

Turn on Memory in Settings, then dictate as usual. Saved names, terms and writing preferences can inform recognition and editing. You can also import documents to build your memory and view it in Memory Galaxy.

Explore dictation memory

How does context awareness help with dictation?

During dictation, attunz can automatically use the app name, AX window text, selected text, existing input-field text and available caret position as needed. Window text comes from macOS Accessibility (AX), not screenshots. Available text and caret information depend on the app and permissions; they help AI enhancement understand the input scenario and refine ASR text and formatting.

Do I need to maintain a vocabulary list?

No. Enable memory, choose an available memory model and dictate as usual. Attunz extracts, removes duplicates and organizes useful terms in the background for later recognition and editing.

How do I turn on AI editing, and what does it do?

Enable AI Enhancement in Settings and choose a model. After dictation, it follows your prompt to correct recognition errors, remove filler and repetition, and adjust tone and formatting to the task. Short text can bypass editing, depending on your settings.

How can I set custom prompts and writing style?

Open AI Enhancement → Prompt to set tone and formatting, then preview the result in the test area. You can insert context variables such as the current app. You can also edit personal writing preferences in your memory style profile.

How do I dictate offline with local models?

Download and enable a local ASR model while online, then dictate with your shortcut. If you use AI enhancement or memory processing, select local models for those too and turn off fallbacks that could use the cloud. Installing local ASR does not change other model settings.
