attunz is a Mac dictation app with AI cleanup and memory for names and terms. All app features, including AI editing and bring-your-own-key (BYOK), are free with local models or your own API key. Superwhisper's free plan includes unlimited dictation with local Whisper models, but AI modes, cloud models and your own API keys need Pro, from $8.49 a month.
Both apps can dictate offline with local models. Superwhisper also runs on Windows, iPhone and Android and installs on Intel Macs. attunz runs only on Macs with Apple silicon.

- You want offline dictation and AI cleanup without a subscription on an Apple silicon Mac: try attunz.
- You want a hosted service and a subscription is fine: Wispr Flow Pro or Superwhisper Pro.
- You only need basic dictation: start with Dictation, which is built into macOS.

Where attunz is different
- AI cleanup without a paid plan: attunz can fix recognition errors, remove filler and repetition, and adjust formatting, with a local model or your own API key.
- Your own API key at no charge: Superwhisper lists BYOK as a Pro feature. attunz charges nothing for it; you pay the provider directly.
- No vocabulary list to maintain: turn on Memory with an available memory model, and attunz extracts and organizes useful names and terms in the background.
When Superwhisper is the better choice
- You need dictation on Windows, iPhone or Android. One Superwhisper Pro license covers Macs, Windows PCs, iPhone and Android.
- You use an Intel Mac. Superwhisper installs on Intel Macs and recommends cloud models there; attunz needs Apple silicon and macOS 14.0 or later.
- You prefer a one-time purchase. Superwhisper Pro is also sold as a lifetime license for $249.99.

- Download attunz with the button below and move it to Applications.
- Allow microphone access, and Accessibility access so attunz can insert text into other apps.
- While online, download and select a local speech model. For offline cleanup, also select a local enhancement model.
- Dictate into any text field with your shortcut.
- Turn on Memory in Settings and choose an available memory model. To give it a head start, import documents that contain your names and terms.

Is AI editing free in attunz?
Yes. AI enhancement is part of the free app. It runs with a local model, your own API key or optional Attunz Cloud credits. You pay any third-party API fees to that provider.
Can attunz dictate offline like Superwhisper?
Yes. While online, download and select a local speech model. After that you can dictate offline. For offline cleanup, also select a local enhancement model.
Does attunz run on Windows, iPhone or Intel Macs?
No. attunz needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14.0 or later. For other devices, Superwhisper is the better choice.
Do I need to maintain a vocabulary list?
No. Turn on Memory, choose an available memory model and dictate as usual. attunz extracts, deduplicates and organizes useful terms in the background.
